I’ve worked with seed-stage companies through their Series B and C funding, established marketplaces through IPOs and acquisitions, and scaled Silicon Valley unicorns. I’ve worked as a product engineer, infrastructure engineer, interim manager, and partner to senior engineering leadership. Most recently I was the Tech Lead of Compute at Stripe.
My super power is bridging the gap between individual contributors and their leadership. I coach and support leaders to help them understand and communicate with their teams, unlocking their team’s potential and supercharging their engineering organizations. I also work with individual contributors to understand the business context that drives their work and help them answer the question “what would my leader want in this situation?”
My engineering philosophy
I’m focused on the “how” of engineering organizations, which goes beyond process and timelines to shape engineering culture. How does an organization decide on an overall architecture? How does an organization learn from past incidents? How do engineering leaders and individual contributors develop feedback loops that grow the organization in a healthy, positive way?
I believe it isn’t enough to build a good product, or design a fault-tolerant system; engineering leaders must foster a strong sense of engineering with curiosity. The challenge is maintaining your curiosity and humanity in the face of success, and in continuing to approach the work with a sense of humility. Our job is always asking “why”, and being open to where the answers lead. I see philosophy as equally important in engineering and leadership, and the real magic happens where those two overlap.
